About Us: Our Goals

CPL's primary goals are:

1. Develop New Leadership from the Grassroots Up - By developing a political pipeline for progressives, CPL expands the base of progressive political leadership in key states across the country. By making long-term investments in targeted recruitment, training and support of progressive political leaders, CPL is building the foundation for change with thousands of new candidates and activists taking leadership roles.


2. Engaging Diverse New Leaders - Identifying, recruiting, and training promising leaders who are currently outside of the political system is a major priority for CPL. CPL works with partner organizations and volunteers in our target states to engage a new generation of progressive political leaders, including women, people of color, low-income individuals, and youth.


3. Building Leadership Networks - CPL's leadership development programs have a strong emphasis on creating links among progressive political leaders, donors, and activists in our target regions. Through events, mentorship programs, online communities, and fellowship programs, CPL engages emerging leaders with established leaders and creates a community of progressive political leaders.
