Outreach Manager

National Program Team
Full Time Position - Washington, DC

 

The Center for Progressive Leadership (CPL) is a national political training institute that develops diverse leaders who can effectively advance progressive political and policy change. Through long-term, comprehensive programs for organizational leaders, political professionals, activists and future candidates, CPL provides promising leaders with the skills, resources, and networks needed to become powerful progressive leaders.


CPL is seeking an Outreach Manager to support its National Programs.  CPL’s current national programs include the New Leaders internship and fellowship program.  CPL’s New Leaders Program works to change the face of tomorrow’s political leadership by connecting young people of color, LGBT youth, and women to paid internships and entry-level positions with progressive organizations. CPL provides the New Leaders with training and leadership development, mentoring, and networking opportunities.  CPL is also in the process of developing additional national programs, which the Outreach Manager will help to support.

 

The Center for Progressive Leadership was founded in 2003 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with strong relationship-building skills, exceptional professionalism, and deep connections to other progressive organizations in D.C.  The Outreach Manager will work with the National Program Team to:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with progressive political, advocacy, and nonprofit organizations to strengthen our network for New Leaders interns, Fellows, and other national program participants;
  • Identify paid internships, entry level positions and other opportunities for New Leaders with progressive political, advocacy, and nonprofit organizations;
  • Maintain a database of potential placements and provide support in matching selected New Leaders with appropriate internship and entry-level opportunities;
  • Support and maintain an active alumni network for New Leaders interns and fellows;
  • Assist in identifying and recruiting qualified applicants for the New Leaders Fellowship Program and other national programs; and
  • Support the selection and acceptance process for the New Leaders Program, including ongoing communication with applicants, reviewing applications, and coordinating interviews with top applicants.


QUALIFICATIONS:
CPL is a team of dedicated and passionate individuals. Applicants must be high energy and enthusiastic, possess strong leadership skills, have a clear commitment to training and progressive politics, and have significant connections to and experience in engaging traditionally underserved communities.

A strong applicant will have:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience with outreach and partnership building, particularly with other national progressive organizations;

  • At least 2-3 years of experience with outreach and recruitment, ideally with internship, leadership development or training programs;

  • Experience mobilizing and working with youth, particularly youth of color, LGBT, and/or other underserved youth populations;

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills;

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively;

  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals;

  • A flexible schedule that can accommodate weekend and evening training sessions, conferences and other events.

LOCATION:
The Outreach Manager will be a full-time position based in Washington DC. Some travel may be required.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Salary for this position will be commensurate with the candidate’s level of relevant professional experience.
