To build a pipeline of talented, visionary progressive leadership, CPL recruits, trains, mentors and connects emerging political leaders in our target states who are dedicated to reshaping politics in their region.

CPL’s State Political Leaders Fellowship, a 9-month, part-time program for promising future elected officials, organizational leaders and advocates, helps to fill the gap in the progressive leadership pipeline by expanding the opportunities and accessibility of political leadership within the state.

Meet CPL Fellows:

CPL Fellows are highly motivated leaders from a variety of backgrounds who may be planning to run for office, lead a political organization, become a campaign manager or political consultant, or create a new organization or campaign.

By linking emerging leaders across the state with each other, with donors, with elected officials and with mentors, CPL’s Fellowship engages diverse new political leaders, develops effective and inspiring leaders, and builds a stronger community of emerging progressive leaders.

The CPL Political Leaders Fellowship is designed to teach progressive community leaders how to successfully plan for and achieve their political leadership goals, how to manage advocacy or political organizations, and how to lead from their values while remaining connected to their communities.

The Fellowship emphasizes skills-based training and coaching as well as networking opportunities so that participants both build their own leadership capacity and develop the relationships needed to successfully accomplish their political leadership goals.

Meet some of the Fellows from previous programs:

As CPL Fellows, these leaders will attend a series of trainings focused on providing them with the tools, resources, and knowledge to become an effective leader, organizer, or candidate in their community. They will also receive ongoing support, coaching and mentorship to support their launch into local, state-wide or national political prominence.

This mix of training methods is designed to appropriately address adult learning styles; provide targeted feedback based on individual strengths, weaknesses and goals; and build a cohesive community of emerging progressive leaders in the state.
