Program Details:
The CPL Voter Mobilization trainings come at a critical time in the political climate of the US, where thousands of progressives are activated to make change in 2008.
CPL offers these trainings to equip progressives with the strong skills they need to secure progressive victories.

Who is this training for?
This training is for first-time and seasoned grassroots activists, organizers, and campaign staff who want the skills to run successful campaigns, expand voter outreach, and build on progressive issues in 2008 and beyond.
Description:
In this training you will learn effective hard skills of doing electoral and field work successfully. Session topics include:
- direct voter contact and targeting
- GOTV and effective persuasion
- volunteer recruitment and management
- managing phone and door operations
- message development and delivery

Tracks:
There will be tracks available for participants, including:
- Intermediate – The intermediate track will focus on the fundamentals of implementing a field plan, communicating with voters at the doors and on the phones, peer-to-peer fundraising, and get out the vote.
- Advanced - The advanced track will cover the best practices for creating a campaign plan, managing a campaign, developing a message, targeting, and tools for building campaign leadership.
Sessions will be led and facilitated by top electoral trainers in the country and in the state. Some of the sessions will include:
- Election Protection in 2008 – What progressives are doing this year to protect voter’s rights and some of the latest tools, techniques and resources you can use to protect the vote in your community.
- Recruiting and Managing Volunteers – A guide to the best practices for recruiting a grassroots, volunteer-driven campaign, as well as tips for building leadership inside your campaign and getting the most out of your people resources.
- Persuading Voters – Top trainers will talk about the nuts and bots of reaching out to voters, outline the latest strategies in creating a voter contact plan, and lead practice skills sessions on phone banking and door-to-door knocking.
- Local Politics Panel – Local leaders from the progressive movement will talk about the biggest issues facing the state in 2008 and host an intimate Q&A with participants.
The training cost covers 16 hours of training and all of the training material and food.
Cost:
The cost of attending a Center for Progressive Leadership 2008 Voter Mobilization Training is $35 regular fee and $20 for low-income individuals and students. We are committed to keeping this training accessible to everyone.

If you are able to cover the full cost of your participation in this training, please do so as this will help us continue to train progressives across the country.
