Denise Balfour

University of Chicago, Class of 2008

A native of Chicago, Denise Balfour will be attending the University of Chicago in the fall perusing a Master’s degree in Social Work, focusing on Social Administration and Health Policy and Administration.

She completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at DePaul University in Psychology and Communication in 2005. 

Ideally, Denise would like to work with other political leaders in creating nonprofit organizations that address the academic, social, and vocational needs of urban communities; her desire is to “help people become empowered to change their lives, their communities, and those around them”. 

She has worked in Residence Life, both as a Resident Advisor and full-time Hall Director (leaving her native home to live in rural Iowa for a year), and is very active with a Chicagoland gospel choir and her sorority.
