Claudia Montelongo

Ponoma College, Class of 2006

A recent graduate from Ponoma College in Claremont, CA, Claudia Montelongo hopes to pursue a career in public policy. 

While in undergrad, Claudia was a McNair’s Scholar, worked with Residence Hall programs, the National Hispanic Institute, and helped to found Empowered Latinos in Action, an accomplishment she is very proud of (her freshman year, Ponoma College had no latino students). 

In 2004, Claudia studied abroad in Azogues, Ecuador and learned from government officials about the Azogues Strategic Development Plan.  Because of her Spanish fluency, Claudia was able present an ethnographic study while in Ecuador. 

Claudia is very committed to economic advancement and amplification of civic engagement for the Latino community.
