New Leaders Fellowship
CPL’s New Leaders Fellowship helps talented young people of color, women and GLBT youth who are looking for full-time employment jump-start their careers in the progressive movement. During the five-month fellowship, diverse young leaders are matched with full-time, paid positions at leading progressive organizations in their state. CPL also provides a week of intensive leadership and skills training, as well as ongoing training, coaching and networking opportunities during the fellowship.
The 2008 New Leaders Fellowship will run from June to November. The program will commence in early June 2008 with a one-week, intensive training for all Fellows in Washington, DC. CPL will fully cover Fellows’ costs during the week, including transportation, lodging and meals.
Qualified applicants will be matched with a leading progressive organization in their state, based on their background and experience. During the fellowship, Fellows will receive a full-time salary from the organization with which they are matched.
New Leaders Fellows will receive ongoing support from CPL, including:
- Leadership training and skill-building opportunities
- Career coaching and mentoring from experienced progressive leaders
- Networking opportunities with CPL’s alumni, partners and supporters throughout the state
We will have openings for New Leaders Fellows to work in the following states:
- Colorado
- Michigan
- Ohio
- Pennsylvania
- Washington D.C.
Applicants for locations other than DC should currently live in or have a strong connection to this state. Applicants from across the country are welcome to apply for the DC fellowship positions.
Fellowship candidates must be able to commit to the entire five-month fellowship program, including a week of training in Washington, DC from June 2-6, 2008. Fellowship candidates must be available for full-time work from June-November 2008 and are also required to participate in regularly scheduled trainings, coaching sessions and networking events as part of their fellowship.
