Julie Rivera-Horwin, M.Ed

Julie Rivera-Horwin taught in the Arizona public school system for 28 years. Throughout her years in teaching, Julie retained her sense of wonder and awe of the learning process for her students, as well as her sense of humor. As a Regional Director on the AEA Board of Directors, she chaired the statewide Government Relations and Legislative Task Force where she facilitated setting the AEA Legislative Agenda. She chaired the Grassroots Education Activist Team for North Central Phoenix.
She was a founding member of the Paradise Valley Unified School District Community Legislative Network, and was the AEA Liaison to Governor Janet Napolitano’s re-election campaign in 2006, where she organized, recruited and trained educators for many successful campaign activities. Julie served on the Arizona Department of Education Teachers' Advisory Board and was a member of the A.D.E. Think Tank for Positive Student Support.
Julie is a trained facilitator of Organizational Change, Leadership Development, Consensus Building and Collaboration. She creates training modules for leaders in organizations. Her workshops and consulting have resulted in work reorganization at two top-tier colleges, increased teacher effectiveness in adult education schools, and a reorganization of re-careering-into-teaching for professionals in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She created a political training module for women of Afghanistan, Iraq and Jordan to run for office, network, and advocate for their issues. Julie was a member of the first Fellowship for the Center for Progressive Leadership. Julie is the President of Super Teaching Tips, LLC
