Honorable John Loredo

Arizona Associate Faculty Member

 

Program: 2006 Arizona Fellowship

 

A fourth generation Phoenician, today John Loredo serves as a project consultant for such prestigious clients as Chicanos Por La Causa, McCormick Baron & Salazar and other important community organizations and businesses.  In 1996 he was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, being re-elected in 1998, 2000 and 2002.  He served in House Leadership as the Democratic Whip and Democratic Leader respectively.

 

Mr. Loredo brings to Arizona CPL Fellows his knowledge and experience from his involvement and leadership in such legislative committees as the  Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault & State Plan Task Force, Welfare Reform Task Force, Juvenile Justice Coordinating Committee, Joint Committee on DES Block Grants, Farmworker Affordable Housing Study Committee, Ad Hoc Committee on Border Issues and more.

 

A recipient of such recognitions as the League of United Latin American Citizens Community Award, Arizona School Board Association Representative of the Year, Arizona Cities and Towns Leadership Award, Mr. Loredo voluntarily shares his expertise by serving or having served on such Boards as Children’s Action Alliance, Community Information and Referral Board of Directors, Friendly House Board of Directors, and the Arizonans for Cultural Development Board of Directors to name a few.  He was a Fleming Fellow at the Center for Policy Alternatives and Fanny Mae Fellow at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.

 

Mr. Loredo’s first political campaign was the “NO on 106 (English Only)” Committee.
