Beth Meyer - Arizona State Director

Beth Meyer has been an active member of the progressive movement since she was 10 years old at the “insistence” of her parents.  As a teenager she advocated for reproductive rights and spent her entire senior high school year pushing to stop hunger in Africa and working at her mother’s side in support of the civil rights movement.  In early 2006 she was named the Arizona State Director of the Center for Progressive Leadership (CPL).

Prior to joining CPL, Beth served as the Vice President of External Affairs for Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona.  Her responsibilities in this position, which she held for more than five years, included overseeing the Public Policy, Education, Community Outreach, Fund Development and Communication Departments.  She was also responsible for the c-4, concentrating on electoral races throughout Arizona.

Earlier in her career, she was President of All Media Communications, an international marketing firm that she founded in the early 1980s and sold 15 years later; Director of Public Relations for the Greyhound Corporation; Public Relations and Public Affairs Manager for Gulf + Western Industries, Inc. (now Viacom); and Communications/Community Relations Manager for the New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.  Going back to the early ‘70s, Beth was engaged in designing toys, working in research & development for the Aurora Toy Design and Manufacturing Company.

Since coming to Arizona from New York in 1980, Beth has played an active role in community development.  She has served on the Board of Directors’ for Phoenix Day, the Arizona Opera League, Phoenix Theatre, the American Jewish Committee, the Arizona ACLU and Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona.  She was a co-founder of the Community AIDS Council, where she served as Board Chair for four years.  Today she sits on the Boards of Justice for Children, Arizona Advocacy Foundation Naral-Pro Choice.

A recipient of the YWCA Communications Women of the Year Award, named 1996 Emerging Business Leader in the Valley by the Business Journal, and in the Who’s Who Worldwide and Who’s Who Outstanding Americans registers, Beth attended Temple University and New York University for career and professional development certifications.
