JOB DESCRIPTION
The Center for Progressive Leadership is seeking part-time faculty members to serve as leadership coaches and workshop trainers, with the most immediate responsibility of working closely with our 8 amazing New Leaders Fellows from across the state. The New Leaders Fellowship will run from June through November.  In March 2009, CPL’s flagship program – the State Political Leaders Fellowship – will begin, and those participants will also work closely with Faculty members.  CPL is recruiting approximately 50-60 Fellows to participate in its Class I Fellowship.  Part-time faculty will primarily assist in 2 core areas: one-on-one leadership coaching and workshop training and facilitation.

Specific Responsibilities

A. Leadership Coach
Faculty members who are serving as leadership coaches will be assigned approximately 6-10 Fellows located within their region (or across the state, depending on availability). They are responsible for scheduling and holding 1-on-1 coaching sessions with each assigned participant 3 times throughout the New Leaders Fellowship, and 3 times throughout the nine month Fellowship. Coaching Guides for each session will be provided. Leadership coaches may also be asked to facilitate and lead 2-3 Group Coaching Sessions of approximately 6 -8 Fellows during the programs. Guides for these sessions, including activities and topics to be covered, will be provided.

Specific duties will include regular communication with assigned Fellows; review of Coaching Guides and preparation for coaching sessions; leadership coaching and facilitation; and regular reporting and tracking of Fellows’ progress. (Approximate monthly commitment: 15-20 hours)

B. Workshop Trainer
When the 9 month State Political Leaders Fellowship begins, faculty members who are serving as workshop trainers will be asked to periodically facilitate and/or lead training sessions during bi-monthly weekend workshops and provide curriculum review, feedback and support as needed. Faculty will be assigned sessions to train and facilitate based on experience and expertise. Lesson plans and handouts will be provided.  Specific duties will include review of lesson plans and materials; working with CPL staff and other trainers to prepare for training sessions; delivering highly interactive training sessions on appropriate topics; and evaluating and providing recommendations to improve future training sessions.  (Approximate Monthly Commitment: 25 hours during workshop months; 5-10 hours during non-workshop months)

C. Additional Responsibilities
All faculty members will participate in monthly workshop and coaching session debriefings, provide feedback on Fellow progress, complete periodic evaluations of program, and provide advisory support and feedback on Fellowship training topics that fall within a faculty member’s background or content expertise.
