Ohio New Leaders Program For recent graduates and young people seeking full time work
The Inaugural New Leaders Program in Ohio finished in December 2008, and CPL Ohio is excited to have such a dynamic group of up and coming leaders in the state as program alumni. With the 2009 program around the corner, below you’ll find more information on the program.
CPL’s Ohio New Leaders Program connects talented and diverse youth to full-time jobs at leading progressive organizations in the state and over the course of 6 months, provides training, mentorship, coaching, and networking to help jump start life-long careers in progressive politics.
Program Summary
CPL’s Ohio New Leaders Program has 2 main components:
it connects talented and diverse youth to full-time jobs at leading progressive organizations in the state by putting people who are looking for jobs in touch with people who are looking to hire, and
it provides an excellent professional development opportunity for young progressives who have begun new jobs within a year of the start of the program.

Mahoning Valley Organizing Committee
Working America, and
Empowering and Strengthening Ohio’s People.
Trainings
Over the course of 6 months, CPL provides training, mentoring, coaching, and networking to help jump start life-long careers in progressive politics. CPL New Leaders will participate in individual professional coaching sessions and at least 3 group training sessions over the course of the 6 months.
Who Should Apply
Diverse individuals who are interested in jump-starting a lifelong career in progressive politics in the state should consider applying. CPL State will also be looking for individuals who are:
Committed to progressive political change in the state
Have demonstrated leadership potential
Between 21-30 years old (in general, there may be exceptions)
Have no more than 2 years professional experience in progressive jobs
Are looking for a job with a progressive organization
Already have a job with a progressive organization, but are looking for additional support and training to get to the next level

We look for well-rounded, diverse young people who demonstrate maturity, initiative, professionalism, strong communication skills, and involvement in their community.
